Capital City Big Band

Capital City Big Band (CCBB) is a high level ensemble consisting of a mixture of professional, top community musicians and emerging student talent from around the Wellington, New Zealand region.  Capital City Big Band is dedicated to preserving and sharing the tradition of great big band music with performers and audiences in Aotearoa.   

CCBB performs regularly for community, educational and private events around the north island, and are available to enhance your next event with live music.  We are available to play at balls, weddings, parties, festivals, dance studios and more.  

CCBB is a volunteer organisation, and subscription and performance fees support our educational and cultural mission.  We rehearse weekly and are happy to arrange auditions for anyone interested in joining.

Capital City Big Band (CCBB) has performed at the Wellington International Jazz Festival, and Napier Art Deco Festival and as part of the Gala Concert Series at the MEFA Ensemble Festival.  We've performed at a number of Hurricane relief fundraising concerts including Night for Napier and United we Band, and we support community education events like the Wellington All Star Youth Big Band with coaching and co-performance opportunities.
